Casting a silver piece of jewelry based on your own design is a unique and creative experience. In this one-day Silver Ring Casting Workshop, you’ll be introduced to this craft and go home with a unique silver jewel that you’ve entirely made yourself.

Step by step, you’ll discover the whole process: from designing your jewel in wax and determining your ring size. After that, I’ll show you how to make a two-part mold using Delft clay.

During the workshop, you’ll receive personal guidance, ensuring you master the techniques and can cast your own design in silver.

Materials:

Delft clay, wax, and perspex included in the price

Coffee, tea, and cookies provided

Casting silver can be purchased during the workshop
(Think about €1.80 per gram, with an average ring weighing 5–15 grams.
I also recommend that everyone bring old silver or gold if you have some at home.)

What will you do?

In het Haarlems kunstatelier, you’ll create your own piece of jewelry using the Sand casting method. We’ll focus on rings, but you are also welcome to make earrings or a brooch.

Techniques you’ll use: mold-making, silver casting, sawing, filing, sanding, and polishing.

The process:
– Decide what shape you want to cast and which type of jewellery you’d like to make.
(Note: possibilities are limited as we work with two-part molds; this will be explained during the workshop.)
– Determine the correct measurements.
– Make a mold.
– Cast the silver.
– Finally, finish and polish the cast silver.

During casting, I will supervise each participant individually to ensure the best possible result.

Practical notes:

There is room for a maximum of 6 participants, ensuring personal attention for everyone.
